Learning Beyond the Classroom at Indus Valley World School

29/09/2026

Our senior school students had two enriching learning experiences outside school this week.

Femina & Grazia Runway East 2026 (28 September)
Grade 12 Home Science students attended the Femina & Grazia Runway East 2026 at Hyatt Regency, organised by Femina, Grazia and J.D. Birla Institute. It was a unique experience for them. They watched traditional textile crafts like ajrakh, jamdani and gamcha reimagined in completely contemporary designs. Third-year B.Sc. Textile and Fashion Studies students had designed every outfit as part of their project work. Our students came away inspired by the professionalism and perseverance on show, and by the creative use of traditional fabrics in trendy ways.

Lecture on Functional Nutrition and Medicine (29 September)
Grade 11 students attended a scientific lecture on “Functional Nutrition and Medicine” by Professor Asim Kanti Duttaroy at Sister Nivedita University, organised by Ideas for Future and Sister Nivedita University. The session covered the gut microbiome and its vital role in overall health. It also explained how these helpful bacteria can be protected and maintained through natural sources instead of relying on chemicals and drugs. Learning from such an eminent expert was a privilege for the students and their teacher.

Experiences like these help our students connect classroom learning with real-world practice and discover new interests.
